Our Institution registered under Public Charitable Trust Act ,and No. F- 1274 Source of Income: Donation from the donors and Membership from members. With the inspiration from Smt. Jayshreeben Raiji our Institution was established On 12-11-1946 in Bhatia Stree Mandal’s Library Hall. .At the time the Branch was started by eminent Social Women activitists having a common dream-aim and Goal of healthy development of women and children, like Late Smt. Sarojben Mehta, late Smt. Kantaben Jai, Late Smt. Maharumatiben & Late Smt. Meraben Jamnadas, late Smt. Saudminiben Mehta, Late Smt. Padamprabhaben Trivedi, Late Smt. Ashaben Panday, Late Smt Ramaben Munshi, Smt. Devalben Saraiya, Late Smt.Prafullaben Pathale, Smt. Sumanben Gandhi, Smt. Dakshaben Gandhi,Smt. Kishoriben Shah,Smt. Shakuntala Parekhji, Smt. Hemaben Dalal, Smt. Bhartiben Thakor.. Our new President is Smt. Rajni Thakar.
The Branch started with a small strength of 50 members which has now grown in to a big tree with about 500 members.
The branch carries out a number of activities involving the members, increasing membership and service, activities like Yoga, Fancy dress competition, Rangoli, cooking, Traditional Garba, Educational awareness Talks, Music & Bhajans. This gives the opportunity to the members to develop their own creativity talent and independent thinking.
Considering the importance of education and Medical assistance in todays’ time, we have permanent activities like scholarship to students right from 4th standard to Graduation and post graduation and other professional courses.
Every year nearly 20,000/- Rupees were distributed amongst the students, Medical Aid is given to the needy and deserving people of our society. Nearly 20,000/- rupees were distributed through out the year to the needy people. Besides we are arranging free medical camps in Mumbai as well as rural areas.
Besides that we donate eatable, fruits, clothes and toys to children’s ward at Cama Hospital every month. We give spectacles and carry out cataract operations not only in the city but also in rural areas like Talasari, Udwada etc.
Our Branch had the honour of hosting the Mumbai Branch Annual Conference twice, First during Smt. Daksha Gandhi’s tenure in 1993 and then in the year 2000 when Smt. Hema Dalal was President of the branch.
The following members worked at the Mumbai Branch in various capacities. - Smt. Deval Saraiya - As vice president and trustee.
- Smt. Kishori Shah - As secretary & trustee.
- Smt. Shakuntala Parekhji - As Vice President, President & now as advisor,& V. Chairman Education committee.
The Branch also arranged awareness programmes about new Laws, about banking, about consumer guidance, about rights of women, cleaning Grant Road Railway Station, awearness of how prevant heart attact, HIV Aid etc.
